"My favorite thing about teaching entrepreneurship is watching students realize that they don’t need to wait for permission, resources, or a “perfect” idea to create value.  I love helping them learn to identify real problems, recognize what’s missing in the world, and then design solutions that matter.  Ultimately, showing students to see problems as opportunities; this skill is priceless!  Seeing students build confidence, think creatively, and understand that these skills can shape their future, whether they become entrepreneurs or not, is incredibly rewarding."

“Being able to connect my teaching to real-life events and scenarios that the students understand, and watching it click with them. I teach LinkedIn and have gotten my students multiple jobs through resume building and LinkedIn page building, so seeing them excited about a career start is more than enough for me.”

Through cooking, nutrition, and the science behind food, students learn to make mistakes, work with and for others, and build teamwork and life skills that prepare them for the future."

"I LOVE that I get to take my past experiences in working with young children and teach the high schoolers everything I know to help make them more aware of how to take care of and educate children. Getting to spend time with the "Bigs & Littles" is the best part of my days! Seeing some of my "Bigs" go on to college to become teachers has also been extremely rewarding!"

"The Early Education Pathway has given me the confidence to skip courses because I already had the required credits and knowledge. This background has given me a solid foundation and head start on most of my other colleagues. I am able to answer professors' questions confidently, especially when asked about certain theorists, as their contributions to education have been engraved in my brain. I also loved having the opportunity to observe different teaching styles in action while spending time at Lincoln and Jane Ball. This course exposed me to multiple age levels, which helped me gain a clearer understanding of the age group I would like to teach in the future."

“I completed all three years of the Early Childhood course in high school, and I can confidently say that I would not be where I am today without it. In the early years of high school, I was debating if I wanted to be a nurse or a teacher. So, I signed up for both Principles of Healthcare and Early Childhood. I loved both courses, but I grew very attached to Early Childhood. Having the opportunity to plan “PreK Fun Day,” was a highlight of my first year. My second year is what finalized the decision that I wanted to become a teacher. I found lesson planning very interesting, and I got to learn about many different ideas from theorists and even classmates. The final year of Early Childhood was by far my favorite. Getting to travel to Jane Ball weekly to help out in classrooms was an incredible experience that not many other schools can offer. It gave us a hands-on way of what being a teacher actually can look like. The STEM days at Jane Ball and Red Cedars were also very immersive and fun! Spending full days in the classroom with amazing mentor teachers was a priceless learning experience. I also loved getting to take care of the RealCare babies. They showed me how to care for an infant, as I have had very little experience with this outside of class. Getting to go into the preschool helped me secure a job in a preschool today, because I can utilize the skills I learned on a daily basis as an assistant teacher. Mrs. Walz made this class the fun and helpful course that it is today, and she was definitely one of the best parts about the class as well. Of course this class could not be what it is without Dr. Mary Tracy-MacAulay. In my opinion, this class is one of the best CTE courses Hanover offers. This class, among other CTE courses, allows future educators to get their start and finalize a decision before going into college unsure of their major. I am so grateful that I got to take this course, because I would have struggled greatly with choosing a major without it. Thank you for inspiring myself as well as many other students to be the best future teachers we can be!” 

“I love the hands-on learning that PLTW Engineering courses provide. Hanover students come to my class with a strong background in STEM skills due to their education at Lincoln, Jane Ball, Red Cedars, and Hanover Central Middle School. I want students to become innovators and problem solvers in my classroom.”
