CTE Classes

Entrepreneurship:

• Mindfulness- learning all about you!
• Walking field trips and guest speakers to learn about small businesses 
• Running businesses - school store, Wildcart (snack cart), and the business side of the auto pathway

• Exploring and applying the Criminal Justice System and the Criminal Justice Timeline from a call for service to punishment.
• Demonstrating and participating in role playing exercises including mock traffic stops, handcuffing and suspect control, field sobriety testing, fingerprinting, and more!
• Interaction with guest speakers from the police, courts, corrections, and other related groups to share life experiences, along with potential field trips to topic related locations such as a police department, jail, the morgue, court, and Lake County 911.

• Understanding of hospitality and career opportunities in the food service and lodging industry.
• Learning the characteristics, functions, and food sources of the major nutrient groups.
• Lessons on how to prepare various foods including stocks, sauces, soups, and baked goods.

• Hands on experience in coding/programming computers, sphero bolts, and self-driving vehicles
• Experience in virtual labs learning about and using different programming languages
• Learning about the different career paths that include key jobs, salaries, credentials and skill sets

EMS:

• Train through a program developed by the Department of Transportation and Emergency Medical Services Commission of Indiana. 
• Learning theories, techniques, and operation aspects of pre-hospital emergency care within the scope of the emergency medical technician (EMT).
• Successful completion of the course meets national requirements for certification as an NREMT.
